Greensburg, Ind. —The City of Greensburg this afternoon released a statement regarding the fire that took place at Sky Bird Manor earlier this afternoon:
"Sky Bird Manor, located at 302 E 10th Street in Greensburg, caught fire due to a gas leak underneath the building. The building has retained serious damage. All gas and electric for the building has been disconnected for the safety of the buildings around Sky Bird Manor. All residents and staff have been evacuated by Greensburg Fire Department, Greensburg Police Department, Decatur County EMS, and our other first responder partners. There have been no injuries reported at this time.
"Sky Bird Manor will remained closed for the foreseeable future, and site and regional management for Sky Bird Manor will work on the relocation of the residents that have been displaced due to the fire. Decatur County Emergency Management Agency has set up a warming center for residents at First Christian Church and is managing residents. Please avoid the area so first responders have room to work.
"Thank you to the Greensburg Fire Department, Greensburg Police Department, Decatur EMS, and others for a quick response and assisting with Sky Bird Manor residents. If you are a resident and are in need of assistance or more information, please call 765-570-3529."
