Board of Works
The Board of Works is the chief administrative body of the City of Greensburg government. Its powers include oversight of the day-to-day operations of the following departments:
- Police Department
- Fire Department
- Engineering
- Water
- Sanitation
- Streets
- Water Pollution Control
In addition, the Board of Works regulates traffic improvements, air pollution, water pollution, building inspection, animal control, and aviation. Members of the Board of Works are chosen by the Mayor of Greensburg. Board of Works meetings fall on the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30 pm in City Hall. If regular meeting date falls on a holiday, then the meeting will take place on the following Wednesday. To request a road closure, please click here.
The Board of Works is made up of five members, including the mayor. Members are appointed by the mayor and the City Council, and must have at least one member of the minority political party. All members must live in Greensburg, and the Greensburg City Clerk-Treasurer is the clerk of the Board of Works. Members serve four year terms. Authorized under IC 36-4-9-5; 36-4-9-8.
