GREENSBURG, Ind. — At 10:23 a.m. Friday, July 24, Decatur County Dispatch received a report of a gas leak at Aspen Place Health Campus, located at 2320 N. Montgomery Road in Greensburg. Emergency responders determined the leak originated in the facility's furnace room.
As a precaution, all residents and employees were safely evacuated and relocated while emergency crews secured the scene.
The City of Greensburg commends the coordinated response of the agencies and organizations that worked together to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents. Responding agencies included the Greensburg Fire Department, Greensburg Police Department, Decatur County EMS, Decatur County Emergency Management Agency, Letts Volunteer Fire Department and the Decatur County Sheriff's Department.
The city also recognizes Willows of Greensburg, Arbor Grove Village and Morning Breeze for welcoming and assisting residents during the evacuation. Additional support was provided by Greensburg Community Schools, which supplied buses for resident transportation; McDonald's, which provided meals for first responders; and CenterPoint Energy, Decatur County Memorial Hospital and TDS Towing for their assistance throughout the response.
Following the completion of emergency response efforts and confirmation that the facility was safe, all residents and employees have returned to Aspen Place Health Campus.
The coordinated response by first responders, healthcare partners, local businesses and community organizations reflects the strength of our community and our shared commitment to keeping residents safe.
