Community Officer
Since 1972, the National Neighborhood Watch Program has worked to unite law enforcement agencies, private organizations, and individual citizens in a nation-wide effort to reduce crime and improve local communities. The Neighborhood Watch program empowers citizens to become active in community efforts through participation in Neighborhood Watch groups.
The Greensburg Police Department currently has an officer designated as a “Community Officer.” This officer is tasked with coordinating Neighborhood Watch programs across the City of Greensburg. Furthermore, the Greensburg Police Department hold several community events, such as cookouts, across the city annually. This allows officers to have positive direct access with the citizens of Greensburg to listen to any concerns or problems in the neighborhood.
